When an employer advertises a position, he has certain needs to fill for that company. He will even have some needs that he doesn’t advertise for. Make sure that your resume indicates the fact that you can fill his needs immediately. Give enough of your qualifications that you could even fill needs that he didn’t advertise for. For example, if you are fluent in Spanish, let him know that. You never know if the employer might have been looking for someone to help with international relations. Listing your full set of skills can only help you in the job search.

Choosing the wording and verbiage for your resume is more important than you might think. Simply listing your qualifications is not enough. Instead, you have to make sure that you give the person who reads your resume some words to latch onto. They should finish reading your resume and remember some of the key phrases. Things like “goal oriented” and “motivated” are examples of power phrases that give a strong positive impression of you to the potential employer. If they don’t remember anything else, they will at least remember that you were someone who had their goals in mind.
